God promised David a position, to be king. Twice in David’s time as king of Judah, he had to leave the throne and his position and loose ground, which God gave him, due to a thread to his life. He was advised by God to leave the city until the issue was resolved. You would think that a king with an army behind him will not need to give up position or ground, but this was not the case. David was only able to return to his throne after God restored the situation.
King David may have lost his throne and position for a time, but God brought restoration and with it the promise that David’s descendants will be part of the new covenant.
King Amaziah of Judah hired soldiers from Israel with silver to help fight against his enemy. God send a prophet to advise king Amaziah to send the hired soldiers home. God will not bless the fight with the hired help. The king was upset because he already paid them to do the job and will loose the silver. But the prophet told him God will give him so much more in return than what he is giving up. King Amaziah sent them home and fought the fight with only the Judah soldiers and the won the battle.
We’ve got this plan or position, but God may expect from you to give up your plan and / or position to win the war. Even if it is a position you know for a fact you received from God. What price does God expect you to pay to be able to win the war?
God’s promise to you:“The Lord is able to give you much more than this.” 2Chr25:9. He can give back to you more than you lost or gave up.
Trust in Him.
